Broke Girl Does America: Day one of my road trip

Beginning my month long road trip out west!

By: Kenzie Farrell + Save to a List

Okay, so I haven't actually left yet.

In fact I'm sitting on my couch writing this first and will maybe leave in an hour (It'll be midnight but I am juuuust the sort of person who will sleep until 11am tomorrow when I want to be on the road at 6am)

And I'm not ENTIRELY broke as I am not a total ding bat leaving work with no money hoping it will work out. This isn't Call of the Wild, I would like a longer ending. I have set aside and allotted amount of money for this trip and will go until I run out (Though of course my current bar tending job assumes this will be around December 1st which is what they've decided to believe. By my saying I would be back by then. But you know- we'll see). I just gotta get out of Ohio for a little while guys, I get so antsy. Yes Lebron you're great we know but you're not a bison standing too close to my car and really that's all I want in life most of the time (I love bison, you will be hearing about them). So currently I feel it's time to take the plunge and take a month(ish) long road trip all by myself! And learn now: if you wait until another person has time to bail on their life for a whole month with you you'll be waiting until the bison come home. So I'm not waiting anymore. Traveling??? Living out of my car?? Taking pictures and climbing the whole time?? Only everything I've ever wanted in life???

This isn't my first rodeo but it will be my longest one and I think I have packed correctly

Grand Trunk Ultra Light Hammock

18 two people dinners from Mountain House (Extra excited to try some of those)

My Patagonia duffle (I went to the last REI garage sale with my only goal being to score one of those bad boys- it was the first thing I grabbed and was the largest size and the universe was on my side), my Cotopaxi day pack (I truly love that colorful lama super light bag it's my new babe) and my always goto Osprey (It's on year three of getting the crap beat out of it)

My REI Kindercone (I'm tiny and it's pink I love it)

SAWYER water filter (super easy to use)

And all my climbing gear, my current shoes are children size 5 1/2 BUTORA's because they were dirt cheap at my climbing gym (which I'm also repping in the photo with that Go Climb shirt. I love Rockmill in Akron the most) and I can squish my freakishly small feet into them.

So I will keep you updated every day on where my headlights take me, I plan on getting into as much trouble as possible on this trip. I will be posting photos and letting you know what rocks I climb and what trails I hike. I am very excited for this to be how I kick off my entrance to this community!

Crap can you see my stuffed animals????
