It's amazing to have this trail so close to the city! The hike is so fun with great views and rock scrambling -- it's the perfect day trip for a work out and some fresh air. It has gotten INCREDIBLY crowded ever since President Obama visited -- sometimes a two hour wait to drive into the parking lot on the weekends. Try to go on a weekday if possible!

Loved this trail -- ocean views, a bamboo forest, pools, and a waterfall! It does get incredible hot on the exposed parts of the trail so bring plenty of water. Make sure you go a little passed the sign at the end of the trail to get a close up of the waterfall.

The first 3/4 mile is steep and challenging but it soon levels off to the ridge line with beautiful mountain views. There are tons of great, almost private, campsites near the summit and a perfect beginner's backpacking trip.
