Bench lake in the summer

By: Jen Fuhrman + Save to a List

Depending upon what sort of summer we are having kind of determines the greatness of this lake on Rainier. Sometimes it's low enough to create a shore and you can go explore the lake. Other times, it's a tad more full and there isn't much room for going down and snapping good pics. Always wanted to raft or kayak it, but it would sure be a task to carry a kayak up the incline to get to the lake itself. This is the 1st of many lakes to be seen along this hike. Sure is a good starter lake however. Just beautiful on a clear day as you catch Rainier's reflection in the water. Even on a not so clear day, it's just a beautiful. This was taken in the summer of 2015, Rainier was much more bare that summer. At times we were considered to be in a drought. A drought in Washington? Who saw that coming!
