High Rock lookout

Fire lookouts

By: Jen Fuhrman + Save to a List

This hike will forever be a favorite for me. It's not very long, but it is a pretty steady incline all the way up. This can be tiring and challenging no doubt. It's one where you can see as far as Mt. Adams and St. Helens. It's a beautiful trail all the way up. Once you're up, you're literally climbing a big rock, hence High rock. If you aren't afraid of heights, you'll do just fine. The tower itself is very neat. I know they were doing some fixes to it this last summer. Just a breathtaking view at the top. All the peaks and hills are gorgeous and of course Rainier shows in all its glory. I could go on and on about this hike. Just a heads up, the road to get to it can be confusing to find, and I'd recommend a all wheel, or 4 wheel drive vehicle to make the trek up.
