My Student Exchange Trip To Rome: How I Maintained Focus On Studies Between The Fun

Roma, Italy

Description

Added by Anton Lucanus

I had always dreamed about visiting Italy and specifically Rome for many years. Mainly, it was due to the great stories I had read about the history of Rome. Theoretically, I had information that Rome was founded 3,000 years ago. It had remained a center of power for many years. I had read about the old buildings and Roman culture.

I desired Italian food and its fascinating attractions that offer leisure and amusement. I could not believe my eyes when I stumbled upon a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I got a chance to enroll in a student exchange program trip to Rome. Full of excitement, I filled out the forms, and surprisingly, I was given a chance. My trip was due in 4 months.

Exploring Rome While Staying Focused on School Work

Before I departed for Italy, I was confident that I had all the information that I needed. Much of it had come from a study abroad in Italy blog I had read. It was my first time traveling outside of the US, and my nervousness kept growing. Rome is a big city to explore one day. Some of the iconic places I explored were the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and the Vatican. To enjoy the maximum benefits of exchange programs, I still needed to focus on school work.

My exchange student experience in Rome was unforgettable. I received a chance to explore a new culture, food, music, and life. I got an opportunity to learn to balance exploration and my academic work. I still needed to focus on my research paper, essay, and other assignments. To make sure I enjoyed my trip fully and still maintained my study focus, I had to control my emotions. I found free essay topics that helped me discover more about emotions from essay topics on GradesFixer. Excitements and inspiration never cease in Rome. With all there was to view and do, becoming overwhelmed was easy.

To keep the focus, I found a secret in sitting back and reflecting on my feelings through writing. I explored several emotions-related essay topics, which expanded my knowledge about my emotions. This helped me focus my mind on my studies. The information helped me fully immerse myself in my academic work and explore Rome.

Finding a Study-Life Balance during My Student Exchange in Rome

A study abroad trip to Rome is all that I wanted. Sure enough, the trip gave me the greatest experience of my life. Of course, I had to get as much information as possible. First was to study abroad Rome tips and all about living in a new culture. My trip lasted three months, and I was lucky it was summer in Italy. There was a lot to discover in Rome, like Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri.

No matter how many magnificent buildings or picturesque places there were, I had to develop a study-life balance. I created daily and weekly to-do lists, which I strictly followed. I made a rule upon myself that I had to complete all projects on time. I used a time-tracking app to help me get a view of how I was spending my time. The studying abroad in Rome tips that I read were very helpful.

Setting Goals and Sticking to a Study Schedule

Definitely, my main aim for traveling to Italy was to study. I gathered a lot of information about how does foreign exchange students work. I took time to prepare my goals for the entire period. Some of my goals were to make friends in Rome and learn some Italian language.

I had goals to visit many places but also to stick to my study schedule. To help stick to my study schedule, I developed a consistent discipline. I would list in the evening all the things I needed to do the next day. I gave myself maximum breaks from my study schedules to visit the city.

Making the Most of My Time in Rome: Balancing Sightseeing and Studies

Being my first time in Italy, I was not sure where to start. Luckily, I’m social and was able to join a group of 10 students, all strangers. Many of them were from Italy, and they made my exploration of the country easier. In the morning, my wake-up time was 4:30 am. I would spend two hours studying.

Lessons would end at noon, and we had an entire afternoon to go places. It was study time again in the evening. Our weekends were wild because we would travel outside the city but not far more than 200 miles. My friends were very supportive, and they helped me balance sightseeing and studies.

Conclusion

My departure from Rome was both exciting and bitter. Bitter because I had to leave my close friends. Exciting because I had missed my parents and siblings. If I had gotten a chance, I would extend my stay in Italy. I had fallen in love with the country, its scenic sights, and its people. Not only did I explore the entire Rome in 3 months, but I also visited eight other cities. I will forever remember the food, culture, language, college, sights, and my new friends.
