About this place

Added by Roberto Castelletta

This adventure will allow you to explore a green and quiet valley ensuring great relaxation and exciting views of the enchanted woodland at the top of Bognanco valley.

The path that I'm suggesting here can be completed in full if you feel trained for a climb of 1000m but it can also be cut in half at the Monscera pass if you prefer something simpler and lighter. In any case, your excursion will give you great reward.

From Domodossola follow directions to Bognanco and then to San Bernardo, where you can leave the car in a free parking.

From there you'll follow the easy and pleasant path leading through a magnificent larch forest before reaching the lake Ragozza and then the Gattascosa refuge (1.5 h) where very friendly staff will take care of your hunger (check here the structure's opening season before).
From there the path will easily lead you through magnificent meadows to the Monscera pass (0,5h).

From there you'll admire the peaks of the swiss 4000 Weissmies, Lagginhorn and Flatschhorn, a pretty lake and the head of the valley.

For the more adventurous here begins the steep path to the Camoscellahorn, crossing a stony ground of constant slope to the summit (1h) at which your sight will range all around, allowing you to recognize the alps of the Devero Valley, of the Divedro valley, the Monte Leone, the Weissmies and the Ossola peaks. Pay attention to the occasional presence of goats on the Camoscellahorn; they are inoffensive but may want to share your meal.

From here you'll be back to the park following the ascending trail (2h).
