Description

Added by Morgan Williams

Incredible 2 hour hike through vineyards that traverse the beautiful coastline of the Mediterranean.

Starting at the foot of the large church that sits high in the center of Corniglia, find Route 7 marked on the rocks that lead to the start of the trail. Follow Route 7 straight up a mixed trail of dirt, packed gravel, and steps to connect to Route 6, known as the "high trail". From here follow the high trail through beautiful vineyards and olive groves overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. About halfway through, you will come to Volastra which is a small village consisting of a beautiful church and small homes. Follow the route markers on the rocks to make your way to the descent into Manarola. This descent consists of about 2,500 stairs down into the village. Everyone you pass will be jealous you chose to hike this route in this direction! Once in Manarola, take advantage of the swimming area or visit the small water sports shop and grab a kayak or SUP to explore the coastline! Also, pay a visit to my friends at Cinque Terre Trekking and grab some new outdoor gear or just pop into their shop and grab a t-shirt, these folks are great-- link to their store here: http://www.cinqueterretrekking.com/
