Description

Just off of Interstate 80/90 in Northeastern Indiana near the town of Angola. Wonderful location to enjoy several miles of hiking trails, a saddle barn, boat rentals, camping and much more!

The Bluebird Hills trail ( trail #7) is a moderate, 1.8 mile loop trail at Pokagon State Park that starts just below Hell's Point on Trail #3. You will be guided by a sign at the start of the trail head.

You will start out along a wooded path that leads you to an open meadow with rolling hills that loops around the wetland restoration area and then back to your starting point.

This trail is really beautiful, especially in the spring when the Dogwood Trees are in bloom. You will also be treated to the colors of the wildflowers that bloom all summer. The path will guide you near the wetland restoration that allows you to see water lilies in bloom and some wildlife.

The rest of Pokagon State Park is worth a visit. It has approximately 11 miles of trails. They rate from easy to rugged.  It also has a beach, boat rental, a very nice campground, a camp store, a saddle barn for trail rides on horseback, and some of the nicest park employees that I have ever met!

Pokagon State Park is dog friendly, with the exception of the beach area. Dogs must be kept on at least a 6-foot leash.

The beautiful Potawatomi Inn is located on State Park property and is open year round.  Pokagon is also famous in the wintertime for their Toboggan Run.
