Hike up Villingardalsfjall

Located at the most northern part of the Faroe Islands, the mountain Villingardalsfjall is a gorgeous coastal cliff that will offer views of all the surrounding north islands. 

The trail begins at the top of road Vid Gard, in the northern part of the town Vidareidi. The trail starts along side a 4ft tall rock wall. There is a small parking area, which most likely will not be filled because of the wonderfully small amount of tourists in the Faroe Islands! Walk north along the path which will run parallel to the rock wall for a few hundred meters. Then the wall will cut left sharply, but the trail will continue north while gradually heading left to the northwest. There are blue plastic tubes sticking from the ground to guide the way. The first 2 km are grassy and relatively easy to hike along. Just be wary of your ankles since the entire hike is at an angle. 

Continue to follow the blue tubes until they end at a small plateau with some rock cairns going off to the west. Do not follow these carins, they will lead you to the steep cliff on your left. Instead, stay on your current line north an make your way to the top of Villingardalsfjall. It's an easy little rock hike and the top is visible within that last 1km. Be careful of slippery rocks in the rain.
