Exploring at Hewlett Gulch Trail

The Hewlett Gulch trail is located in the Poudre Canyon, just past the Greyrock trailhead. The Hewlett Gulch trail is very accessible with lots of parking and it definitely is a beginner trail, but for a little extra fun you can wander off some and explore the area around it. Just make sure not to cross any fences onto private property, wander too far off the trail, damage any wildlife, or disrupt the natural state of things. We hiked about a mile on the trail than did some wandering exploring rock formations or forests just off the trail. The standard trail is a loop, but we just wandered wherever looked cool, which I suggest. So there really is no real distance, just be prepared and be smart. You should always be able to easily see the trail or you are way to far off. I suggest this for at least intermediate explorers who know the area and know how to properly wander. I would suggest doing this on a warm winter day as the slight amount of snow can make for some really cool views. Just watch the weather as we got hit by a blizzard right as we were leaving. Stay safe, leave no trace, and have fun.
