Incredible views with a short drive from Denver!

The trail brings a variety of terrain which is great and keeps you interested throughout the entire hike.  Despite the stunning views, you will have to work for them.  Just as you exit the trail through the forest, you'll approach a dirt road that you'll ascend up to Idaho Springs Reservoir which is just passed 1.5 miles in.  The hike is a total of 10 miles round trip, and the elevation gain really gets you once you start to surpass the lower lake which sits at 11,545 feet.  Feel free to take a break and look back into the valley that you had just trekked through, it sure is rewarding.  The upper lake sits at 11,733 feet and provides breathtaking views.
