This was one of my favorite things I've ever done. The hike is very mild as it is mostly flat with some rolling hills, but the hot springs at the top are unlike anything I've ever seen!
Conundrum starts at about 8,700 feet, right outside of Aspen, Colorado. Parking was hard to find and we ended up parking off the road about a mile away from the trailhead. We started late, around 10:30/11 am. The trail is easy to follow, about 8.5 miles to the hot springs. It took us about 5 hours including a 30-minute lunch break. The trail is super easy; some rolling hills but very mild and flat. The views are amazing, extremely diverse....we walked through Aspen trees, mountains, rocks, rivers, etc. The only problem we came across was when we had to cross a river, we were able to stay on logs and rocks without getting wet, but the trail was difficult to see, luckily someone told us where to go.
We arrived around 4/4:30 and there was plenty of camping sites left. We immediately set up camp and put on our swimming suits to go to the hot springs. It was the perfect temperature and the prettiest place I have ever been! Perfect ending to a long day of hiking, very relaxing. After, we laid in our sleeping bags and enjoyed the stars. The next day we left early and it took us about 3.5-4 hours to get back to the car. We took the same way back but it gave us a very different perspective of the area.
