Surfing at Costeno Beach

Santa Marta, Colombia

Description

Added by Friederike Kosche

Hide at Costeno Beach for a couple of days and enjoy some surf sessionsane capture great sunsets

Costeno Beach is approximately 2km from the main road to Tayrona. If you don't have your own vehicle, there will be moto taxis that bring you down to the beach. The easiest is if you access the beach via the Costeno Beach Hostel. If you don't want to stay for the night, just register as walk in guest and use their facilities in exchange for consuming something in their restaurant (very delicious)!

It's a beach break, so good for beginners too. Best time to go is either right after sunrise or before sunset when the wind dies down. Be aware of the strong currents and bring insect repellent for the sand flies that can get quite aggressive.

If you need to rent equipment or want to book lessons, these are also offered at the hostel, just check with them.
