Description

This is a great hike just outside of Kamloops. Steep hills are well worth the spectacular views at the top!

Follow Tranquille Road out of Kamloops, left on Red Lake Road, right on Frederick Road and it is the second pullout/parking area. The first kilometre or so is pretty flat, dry and desert-ish. As soon as you get into the forest it gets pretty steep, then steeper. Saw some mountain goat tracks, but no other wildlife. Reports of rattle snakes or cougars though so be aware. There is a lookout with a bench we had lunch at and took in the views of Kamloops, Thompson River, Kamloops lake, and more of Lac du Bois Grasslands park. It is beautiful! The trail is linear so there and back is around 5.7km. Heads up, the way down can be hard on the knees.
