Steep trail up to an old forestry lookout and gazebo with views of Stuart Lake and the surrounding ranges.

Mt. Pope hiking trail is a 6.5km route up and down with 790 meters elevation gain. The route takes you through covered forest with a series of switchbacks to an old forestry lookout and gazebo with panoramic views of Stuart Lake and the surrounding mountain ranges. Requiring a bit of effort, the end result is well worth the trip up.

There are 39 documented rock climbing routes on Mt. Pope for those who wish to ascend in that manner.

Mount Pope is located about 7 kms northwest of Fort St. James on the northeast side of Stuart Lake. Proceed through Fort St. James on Stuart Drive W and turn left (west) on Stones Bay Road. The trail-head parking lot is 4 kms down Stones Bay Road on the right. (From BC Parks).
