Hike at Cascades Conservation Area
Thunder Bay, Ontario
Description
Added by Kat Hill
A popular spot with the locals in Thunder Bay for many activities ranging from walking the dog to trail running. One of the most scenic areas in the city!
This is a family friendly adventure located in the city of Thunder Bay. With 6 designated trails to choose from and all of them connecting, it's easy to spend the whole day here! Only one trail is paved (the green "Forest Trail" on the map). Other trails have stairs and bridges built and are well-maintained.
On hot days, the area is popular as a swimming hole, in the winter the trails provide excellent snowshoeing. There is a wide variety of plants and animals that can be found in the park that allow for wildlife viewing and plant identification.
An interpretive pavilion located at the parking lot has information about the geology of the area, the watershed and plants. The parking lot area also has picnic benches and charcoal barbeques
