Distance: 9.5 kmDuration: 4.5 hoursTotal elevation: 6973 ftGrade: 14%Instantly one of my favourite hikesShorter length360 degree summit viewsBeautiful lake (with amazing camping potential)Endless opportunities to explore

The trailhead starts at the end of the Juliet Creek Forest service road. After crossing deep cross ditches and dead alders the road comes to an end, after gaining much of the total elevation.

The foot trail begins easy as you climb what appears to be an even older service road. The mountains are quickly hidden as you curve around the valley. This hike is marked only with some old flagging tape, so make sure you keep your eyes up as you hike to Drum lake. After winding through wet meadows and boulder fields, the summit becomes visible as you hike through the alpine meadow, gaining consistent elevation. After about 1.5 hours you will reach the lake!

From the lake to the summit there is no visible taping. Be cautious when climbing up the rock as it is very slippery and can be dangerous. We approached along the side, following the ridge to the summit. This took under an hour from the lake. The summit greets you with 360 degree views and chilling air, even in late summer. Be sure to bring a jacket so you can sit and enjoy the view. The summit has several plateaus scattered with tarns providing further opportunity to explore. This area had several new and unique features from frost blasted trees, to hundreds of hibernating lady bugs.

I can't wait to return and explore the southwest side of the lake!
