The Sea to Summit hike starts at the bottom of the Sea to Sky Gondola, next to Shannon Falls, in Squamish. You can choose to take the Gondola up there, but it will cost you about 35$ per person (return). Or you can hike up, which will take you between 2.5 hours and 5 hours depending on your level of fitness, and then take the Gondola down for 10$ only.It is not advised to hike down because it is quite steep in some places, but if you are used to hiking or trail running, it is definitely an option.

Since Sea to Summit is next to the very popular Squamish Chief, the first 30 minutes of the hike are actually on the same trail. But at some point, most people will turn left at a fork to continue to the first peak of the chief, while you will break right and continue up on less travelled trails that lead to the summit.

Along the way you will hike next to Shannon Falls and will be able to actually stop a couple of times and literally sit next to the fall. With a view of the valley below.

Halfway up to the top you can enjoy a nice break on a cliff with a incredible view of the valley and the Howe sound. It is always the spot I chose to stop at when I introduce people to this hike.

Since the hike is actually quite steep up to that point, stopping for a few minutes to eat a little and hydrate while admiring the view is usually quite welcomed. Plus the second part of the hike is actually less steep which never fails to please people when you tell them the good news.

To get to the very top you will have to go through a couple of pretty steep and slippery rock climbs, but ropes and chains are there to help you and it is fairly easy to make it to the top if you have eaten properly and are in decent hiking shape.

Chances are, if you have made it halfway, you will be just fine for the second part.

As soon as you get to the top, you are greeted with incredible views of the valley on one side and glaciers on the other side (SkyPilot). The trails up there are incredibly well groomed and clean and you can hike to a couple of very nice view points with platforms.

Once you're done hiking you can go back to the lodge and grab some food and a refreshment and enjoy a meal overlooking the Howe sound. The view is breathtaking.

Go back to your vehicle with the gondola, it will cost you 10$, but you will be back down in 7 minutes. Worth every penny after a day on the trails.
