Mountain Bike Mt. Stromlo

Located just 15mins drive from Canberra, Mount Stromlo is a premiere location for mountain biking in Australia. With hundreds of different interconnected tracks and trails, all maintained by the local council, there's something for everyone here. 

For the beginner, there's an awesome playground area which is sign-posted with handy hints on how to ride each section. The playground is full of obstacles, logs, berms, rollovers, seesaws and a pump track, which is great for basic training and skills development. There's also some BMX tracks, which are just as fun on the mountain bike, if not better!

On the mountain itself, there are six major courses to ride, which can be combined or chopped and changed to create countless unique riding experiences. Each loop is designed to take between 20 & 120 mins riding time, but every track varies in length and difficulty, so this is only just a rough guide. There's everything from the green beginner tracks to some wild double black diamonds for the expert rider, all of which are well sign-posted. Stromlo has many days worth of tracks to ride and it's well worth keeping this in mind when planning a trip. From skills development to adrenaline pumping down hills, this is one fantastic place to ride!

There's ample parking at the base of the mountain with a road racing track nearby. On weekends, this popular track gets packed out. However, having said that, it just means its a great way to meet other mountain biking enthusiasts out doing what they love!
