Starting where Part 1 finished up at the Merewether Ocean Baths, walk around the headland to Burwood Beach. Walk up the beach for around 1km. Check out the remains of the old coal train railway which runs parallel with the beach, which was once used to transport coal from the Burwood Colliery to the Port of Newcastle.

Keep an eye out for the yellow Great North Walk marker (on your right) and head towards it. From here you will find the Glenrock Lagoon to your left and make your way to the trailhead on the other side of the lagoon (never fear, it is easily accessed). Head up through the coastal rainforest that is Glenrock State Conservation Area for 3.4km's. Listen to the bellbirds, chase waterfalls (despite TLC's recommendation), watch out for mountain bikers, and take in the view looking back towards Burwood Beach.

Eventually, you will find yourself in the carpark; from here, cross the road and turn right. Follow the road up to the lights turn left on to the Fernleigh trail and find the well signed trailhead. For the next 9 or so, well signed, kilometres you'll meander through suburban bushland and streets ending the walk in Warners Bay on the foreshore of Lake Macquarie.
