This is part one (4.5km) of the Great North Walk, a 250km hike between Sydney and Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
The trailhead begins at Queens Wharf, Newcastle foreshore. Follow the yellow markers throughout the city and meander up to the obelisk that overlooks Newcastle city, Newcastle Beach and King Edward Park. Cross the road and head towards the top of King Edward Park and follow the path over to the ANZAC Memorial Walkway and down to Bar Beach. From here, follow the beachside path as it meanders along the shore all the way to Merewether Ocean baths.
