Wander back in time on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland
L'Anse aux Meadows is a UNESCO World Heritage site with a lot to explore. When you arrive drop by the visitors centre where you can sign up for a guided tour, pay for your day pass - about 12.00CAD for adults, and check out the history of the site before you head out for a stroll. There is a short video on the history of the Norse people who visited the site long ago if you don't have the time for a guided tour. You have to walk through the visitors centre and pay for a pass before heading to the trail.
There is a nice trail around the site that takes you to the viking encampment, which includes an escape room for 25.00CAD per person, a night of story telling by the park employees who are more than dressed for the occasion, and several archaeological sites.
Aside from the park itself, there is a lot of great stuff to see in the surrounding area. A Leif Erikson monument, local restaurants, The Viking Shop - which features local art, and great Newfoundland scenery in general.
