A super short, family friendly hike to a scenic waterfall and summer swimming hole on the outskirts of Olympic National Park.
To find the falls, head north up Hwy. 101 past Brinnon, Washington and hang a left at Dosewallips Rd. Keep an eye on the mile markers. Right after mile three and crossing a small bridge, there's a parking area on the left side enough for about 6 cars.
The hike to Rocky Brook Falls is a short one and doesn't require much planning, effort, or time. From the parking area, cross the street (after looking both ways), and follow Rocky Brook River only a couple hundred yards up to the falls.
Each season presents a different look for the falls and I like to check each time I'm in the area to see how much water is flowing. During the summertime, the base of the trickling falls is a sweet (but chilly) swimming hole. You wouldn't even think about hopping in during the winter, though. The water cascades down the rocky slope with extreme power and persistence. It's not advised to climb on the rocks and logs at the base of the falls especially in the winter months because the water is known to reposition them frequently.
The whole area around the Rocky Brook Falls, Brinnon, and Olympic National Park is absolutely beautiful. When enjoying the area, please respect it by abiding Leave No Trace rules and packing out what you pack in.
After checking out the falls, grab a cold beer at the local Geoduck Restaurant & Lounge. Great burgers, service and canal views.

Beautiful waterfall and fun for all. We did a different hike earlier in the day so arrived in the afternoon and it was pretty crowded. But still very cool. Especially for the kiddos. It is a very short walk but there are tons of other hikes and things to do in the area.

Beautiful
This is my favorite waterfall I've seen in Washington so far. It's an easy and quick stop that doesn't require much effort. The walk to the fall is very short, but you have to climb on some rocks to get to the swimming hole at the bottom. One side of the swimming hole is shallow and one side is deep, perfect for actually swimming. The water wasn't too cold when we went either. I loved this place and will definitely be going back.

Not Much Of A Hike, Incredible Waterfall
The "hike" itself takes about 4 minutes from parking spot to waterfall. With that being said, Rocky Brook Falls is a beautiful waterfall that one could easily spend all day exploring. Fantastic swimming hole in the summer! Lots of places to string up a hammock and just relax and enjoy the view.
