Hike to Heybrook Lookout

2.6 Miles Round Trip - 850 ft gain - Out-and-Back Trail

Heybrook Lookout Trailhead - Search Nearby - Added by Rose Freeman

Hike up through a mossy forest to a lookout towering high above the trees to see Mount Index and other peaks in the Central Cascades! Total mileage: 2.6 miles, roundtrip. Elevation gain: 850 feet. Highest Point: 1,700 feet.

To the trailhead, drive east on highway 2 from Everett. Just past milepost 37 you will see a gravel parking area on the left side of the highway.

Wander through a mossy forest that reminds me of Olympic National Park and traverse up 1.3 miles of switch backs to ascend heybrook lookout! Dogs are allowed on leash.

When we hiked here, the sun peaked through the fog to give us spectacular views of Mount Index. From the lookout, bring binoculars to also see Bridal Veil Falls tucked into the hillside!

Fun Hike Off Highway

This is a fun little hike right off of the highway. Be aware that many cars are broken into at the trailhead because it is so easy to access.

Winter Wonderland

It is an enchanting little walk in the winter (went in late December), just remember to bring those microspikes/crampons and marvel at how the forest transforms under feet of snow.

Short Hike W/great Views

A short hike but don't be deceived, almost everyone I passed was taking a break because it's basically all uphill! However, the end is worth it. The lookout is awesome and I can't wait to go back for sunrise/sunset.
