Distance: 3.2 miles roundtrip (loop)Elevation gain: 600 ftLoop trail, so you are offered every view of Mt RainierConsistent, straight trail. Only a small uphill climb in beginningGreat trail for photographyBeautiful, scenic trailFree parking

With a drive up the Mount Rainer National Park road, you will already be amazed. But a quick stop on the side of Chinook Pass somehow makes it better.

You start with a short walk across the road to the Naches Peak trailhead. It doesn't matter which point of Naches Peak you begin at because the trail is just a big loop, so whichever point you begin at takes you right back. That is what makes part of this trail fascinating. Instead of a hike to an ending destination, you get entirely new views for a short, 3.2 mile hike. Aside from seeing the wondrous Mount Rainier, you get a stop over Dewey Lake Viewpoint. You may decide to hike down to Dewey Lake, but you do need a trail pass for it. Otherwise, you can continue on with your loop.

There are plenty of viewpoints throughout the trail to stop for a short break with your friends and family, and to eat the lunch you packed yourself. Finishing the hike ends with a view over the reflecting Tipsoo Lake. A very satisfying trail for a short, day hike.

Hike the Naches Peak Loop Reviews

Not too many easy hikes offer views that a long, uphill climb will. Navhes Peak decides to be nice with being that exception. A recommended hike for all aged folks.
