Catch a Sunrise on Skyline Drive at Moorman's River Overlook

Directions: Moorman River Overlook is located at mile post 92.0 on Skyline Drive (southern section). If entering from the southern entrance, drive north until you come to mile post 92. If coming from any other entrance, drive south until you come to mile post 92.

Be sure to google what time the sun rises in the southern portion of Shenandoah National Park before your trip! Take this time and arrive an hour to an hour and a half earlier than the predicted time. If you're a photographer this will give you a good amount of time to set up your gear. If you're just going up to snuggle and watch the sun rise this gives you enough time to set up a cozy blanket and break out the hot coffee and tea. The outlook is lined with a stone wall that's perfect to sit on. 

If you go on a day that the weather sounds like it might be overcast/foggy in the morning do NOT fret. It is possible that your trip might be ruined by clouds but there's also a good chance that you'll be high enough above the clouds that you'll catch a sunrise with fog in the valley below
