A beautiful scenic reservoir situated in the Appalachian Mountains west of Harrisonburg, VA.

From Harrisonburg, Virginia take 33 west for 28 miles until you come to Skidmore Fork Road. Take a left onto this road and follow it down a steep hill. You can either park at the boat ramp or continue to drive around the lake until you find a suitable camp ground. The campgrounds can be identified by fire pits surrounded by clear cut areas. Most camp spots have obvious gravel pull-offs on the side of the road with trails leading from them. Please note that if you camp at Switzer Lake fires are not permitted and you will be subject to $175 fines.

In addition you can park at the boat ramp and kayak/canoe your gear across the lake to additional camping spots.
