An excellent trek for experienced hikers hoping for a great workout.
The Long Trail to the Chin and Profanity Trail is a 3.8 mile hike, with 2765 feet of elevation gain. Prepare accordingly: this trail is best trafficked on a sunny day, when the trail is free from mud or slippery rocks and roots. Part of this trail involves some scrambling above a cliff edge. The summit is open and fairly flat, so there is lots of space to spread out, enjoy the views, and have a picnic lunch.
The trail features beautiful views year-round, with gorgeous spring flowers and fall colors. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but bring a leash!

Hike the Chin and Profanity Trails Reviews
The trail was re-routed in 2017 so it doesn’t hit 108 where shown. The Long Trail to Mt. Mansfield Chin, starts 1/2 mile east on 108, at Barnes Camp Visitor Center and Trailhead. Starts on the Barnes Camp side of the road across a boardwalk and eventually crosses 108.
