Great side trip if you're already in the area. Easily accessible hoodoos. Great views even from the parking lot. Great family-friendly hike.

This is a great area that the whole family can enjoy. It is located about 15 miles down the hole-in-the-rock road south of Escalante, Utah. There is a sign marking the turn-off. In the parking lot there is a restroom and a picnic area.

You're free to walk among the hoodoos and even on them in some places; just be respectful and use your common sense. It is a fairly small area so there really is no risk of getting lost while wandering. The close proximity to some awesome hoodoos, and a natural arch or two makes this a must do if you are down the hole-in-the-rock road anyways hiking in some slot canyons. (I explored Devils Garden the same day as I did spooky and peek-a-boo canyons).

Devils Garden is a lot more fun than I expected. We ended spending a whole afternoon climbing on the rocks and exploring the area. Just a note, this is one of the few places on Hole-In-The-Rock Road where camping is not allowed.

Stopped here unplanned for a break traveling to Salt Lake, but was very pleasantly surprised and spent more time than expected climbing on the rock features and walking around the Garden
