Description

Added by Tobin Akehurst

Hike the spectacular Grand Wash through beautiful vertical sandstone walls.

The Grand Wash is a canyon in Capitol Reef National Park featuring several-hundred-foot-tall sandstone walls. The canyon walls are, for the most part, widely spaced, except for a half mile long section of scenic "narrows".

Hike to nearby Cassidy Arch if you have extra time.

Beware of potentially deadly flash floods, get a flash flood report from a ranger.

Grand Wash Trail, Capitol Reef National Park Reviews

Nice walk up the sandy/rocky wash. It doesn't get very narrow, maybe 8' at the narrowest, but the walls have some interesting features and there are 100+ year old inscriptions from previous travelers. A bit of history with your exploration of the park.

I hiked spectacular Grand Wash through beautiful vertical sandstone walls.

Another beautiful hike in this under-appreciated NP.
