Description

Added by Megan Grimmett

The terrain is varied and exciting. It's possible to find solitude and shade on the upper portion, even on the busiest days in Zion.

The trail begins at the Weeping Rock trailhead (shuttle stop 7). Keep right and begin ascending switchbacks up the walls of Zion Canyon. At 0.7 miles, you will reach a junction—stay right again. After completing another series of shorter switchbacks, you will reach the end of the paved  trail and a spectacular viewpoint at 1.2 miles. Some turn back here.

At this point, almost all of the elevation gain is finished and you have reached the mouth of Hidden Canyon. If you choose to keep going, turn left to hike on rocks, the edge of a cliff, and through the sandy floor of hidden canyon. There are chain handrails protecting any exposed sections of trail. At a few points in the canyon some mild scrambling is required. After about one more miles of hiking, you will find an arch. Most people turn back here, but the canyon continues on if you want to explore further!
