The La Sal mountains, east of Moab, are a "choose your own adventure" type of place. Its two tallest peaks are Mount Peale (12,721 ft) and Mount Tukuhnikivatz (12,482 ft). For both climbs, first spend a while examining the mountain from La Sal Pass, then choose a line of ascent.

For Mount Peale it is suggested to ascend via one of two obvious gullies because they hold snow into the summer allowing the climber to link snow patches and avoid loose talus.

For Mount Tukuhnikivatz follow the Tuk Saddle Trail from the parking area to the saddle between Tuk and Talking Mountain. Then ascend the knife-edge ridge of snow to the summit.

From both summits you have incredible views of the rest of the La Sals, Canyonlands NP and Arches NP.
