Take a soak in this hot spring with stunning views of the Eastern Sierra. The tubs are large enough to fit approximately 30 people. The hot springs are on public land, but please be thoughtful when camping -- choose established areas and pull-offs. Remember to pack out all of your trash!

Also known as "Crowley Hot Springs", Wild Willey's is located a short drive from Mammoth Lakes. For more information on the hot springs and the public land restoration, check out the BLM's Website. From Mammoth Lakes, head south on the 395 for 3.5 miles until you make a left at Benton Crossing Rd. Continue on Benton Crossing for 0.4 miles, which becomes Minnow Creek for 0.1 miles and then continues onto Benton Crossing for another 0.6 miles until you reach your destination.

Remember when visiting the hot springs to practice Leave No Trace principles and to bring cans instead of bottles for your beverages.

Key Points:

  • If camping, make sure you're on the BLM land, you can find our more information about maps here or contact the local office at (760) 872-5000
  • To get to the hot springs from The Green Church off of the 395, cross over 3 cattle guards and make the first possible right after the third guard (immediate after you cross over it). This is approximately 3.0 miles after you pass the church

Wild Willy's Hot Spring Reviews

Came here on a nice chilly Thursday evening. There was a handful of people but still got some time to enjoy the hot springs alone. It’s a great place to soak in the hot springs with the stunning sierras as your back drop. Perfect place for those who like to take a dip a natural so feel free to skip the swim suit. There are a couple different pools and some hotter than others. Camping here is free. I just camped in my truck after. A few others did the same and some had set up tents.

I love stopping here on my drives back to LA after backpacking and skiing trips to Mammoth and Yosemite. There are two pools easily accessed from the parking area by a custom built gangplank, a small hotter pool and large cooler one. As mentioned by others the springs do get extremely crowded on weekends and during holiday seasons, and has a problem with people partying and leaving lots of trash. Please pack out what you pack in (that doesn’t mean just carrying your trash out and leaving it in the parking lot either).

Great spot to soak in the views and relax just a few miles down highway 395 from Mammoth Lakes. Don't head there on the weekends if you're hoping to get the hot spring to yourself.

I agree, there was some trash at this tub...but, being the neurotic person that I am, I picked it all up before I got in the tub because I had a plastic bag in my pack and I did not want to look at it while I relaxed. Mostly beer caps (which can cut someone's foot) and also a discarded sock. But, I happened upon this place midday when there was not another person for miles. Beautiful views, huge tub! It's worth the trip. You will also soak up some karma if you pick up the trash even if it is not yours. ;)

Like was mentioned already, leave no trace, pick up what you bring and even pick up what others have left. This place is great for an après ski soak. Be open minded.
