Meet Your Guide: Natasha Wilson

Hey, I'm Natasha (@deanastacia)! I'm a desert born-and-raised fashion photographer. For the last 8 years, I've been photographing and creative directing both personal and commercial work that is inspired by dream-like color palettes. My passion for mentoring is equal to that of photography, and I love sharing everything I know about the creative process. Come on this journey with me, and I promise that the adventure, memories, and lessons will all be unforgettable.

Day 1: Flights to Peru, Quaint Cities, & Luxury Villas

Summary:
Meet your guide and fellow group members at the airport in Peru. From there, we'll take a van to the quaint town of Urubamba, in the Sacred Valley region, where we'll be staying at the Luxury Villa Kampu house. Get settled in, enjoy the afternoon and head out in the evening for dinner and exploration!

Morning:
Fly in to Peru

Afternoon:
After meeting the group at the airport, we'll head to our luxury villa, settle in and go over the itinerary for the week.

Evening:
Head out for dinner at Kaia Shenai, a quirky vegan & vegetarian-friendly spot with a colorful outdoor patio. This area is home to restaurants overseen by some of the country's top chefs. Afterward, we'll set out to explore this ancient town that sits below steep forests and rugged peaks.

Day 2: Sacred Valleys, Colonial Villages, & Ancient Temples

Summary:
Today we'll learn about portraiture and photographic storytelling in the Sacred Valley of Peru, an area of lush farmland and Spanish colonial villages below snow capped peaks and ancient agricultural terraces. We'll spend most of the day in Pisac, a village known for lively markets, waterfalls, and an ancient hilltop Incan citadel with panoramic views stretching across the valley below.

Activities:
Portrait photography in the Sacred Valley, exploring the colonial villages and Incan ruins. We will be learning in front of and behind the camera, so bring a fun outfit to be photographed in!

Morning:
Wake up early, grab breakfast and get in the van to explore the valley.

Afternoon:
Spend time learning how to capture portraiture in nature while exploring Pisac, it's waterfalls, and the town of Huaran. Grab lunch at the markets.

Evening:
At dusk, the mountain light gives the landscape an otherwordly glow. We'll take advantage of this before having at Mullu Cafe, a hidden gem with traditional Peruvian and Peruvian fusion fare. Then, it's back to Urubamba for the night.

Day 3: Salt Mines, Editorial Photography, & Peruvian Fusion

Summary:
Learn to tell a powerful narrative through the lens while exploring the Maras Salt Mines, famous for their pristine beauty and pink salt. This dreamy landscape will be the perfect backdrop for our models and designer gowns, instantly turning your photos from travel to editorial.

Activities:

Morning:
Wake up, grab breakfast and head out explore the salt mines.

Afternoon:
Once at the salt mines, we'll take some time to look around. Then, we'll work on editorial photography with teaching sessions on posing, storytelling, and editing throughout.

Evening:
After a busy day of exploration, we'll grab an early dinner in Urubamba at Kampu, a popular restaurant that serves a fusion between Thai, Indian and Peruvian food.

Day 4: Baroque Architecture, Incan Ruins, & Street Markets

Summary:
Today will be a leisurely day in Cusco, known for its archaelogical remains, Spanish colonial architecture, and the intricate Plaza de Armas with Incan ruins. We'll photograph the city, create street portraits, and shop the markets.

Activities:
Exploring the ancient city of Cusco

Morning:
Early breakfast at the villa before heading out for our day of exploration in Cusco!

Afternoon:
We'll walk around the city streets, taking photos and portraits at leisure. The Baroque churches and palaces over the ruins of the Inca city make for incredibly unique visuals. Lunch will be at Organika, an intimate restaurant with delicious, vegetarian friendly food.

Evening:
After exploring until our hearts content, we'll rest our legs while having dinner at Morena Peruvian Kitchen, a modern and bright space offering a contemporary twist on Peruvian classics. After dinner, it's back to the villa.

Day 5: Luxury Trains, Boutique Hotels, & 4 Course Dinners

Summary:
Today we'll check out of the Villa and head to the train station to catch the Belmond Hiram Bingham — an exclusive, enchanting luxury train that we'll take from Cusco to Machu Picchu.

Activities:
Train ride from Cusco to Machu Picchu

Morning:
Early wake up call so we can get to the train station by 8 am.

Afternoon:
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the train ride. Enjoy the 1920s-style carriages, where polished wood and brass catch the light. Make your way to the Observation Car to watch the sun rise over the surrounding mountains.

Evening:
Once we arrive and settle in to the Casa del Sol at Machu Picchu, a boutique hotel, we'll enjoy a 4 course dinner over good conversation.

Day 6: Machu Picchu, Iconic Ruins, & Lush Valleys

Summary:
The day everyone's been waiting for: it's time to hike Machu Picchu! We'll also enjoy a tour of Huayna Picchu, the epic peak that towers above Machu Picchu.

Activities:
Hiking Machu and Huayna Picchu (while taking plenty of breaks for photographs, of course).

Morning:
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll head out to catch the bus to Machu Picchu!

Afternoon:
Get ready for some of the most stunning photographs you've ever taken - of the famous ruins surrounded by towering peaks, rugged mountains among the clouds, and breathtaking views of the lush valley below. Lunch will be at grab lunch at Mapacho Craft Beer & Peruvian Cuisine.

Evening:
After a long day of hiking and exploring, it's back on the bus to Cusco — and on to our next boutique hotel, Antigua Casona San Blas.

Day 7: Ancient City Streets, Rooftop Bars, & Organic Peruvian Fare

Summary:
One last day in Cusco, exploring the markets, architecture, and ruins.

Photographing and exploring in Cusco

Morning:
After a full breakfast at the hotel, we'll walk together into the city.

Afternoon:
Eat lunch at Greens, a vegan-friendly organic restaurant. In the afternoon, we'll continue to stroll through the markets and photograph the unique Spanish colonial city.

Evening:
Enjoy one last celebration over dinner and drinks at Limbus Resto Bar, a contemporary rooftop bar with spectacular views.

Day 8: Catch Flights Home

Summary:
Time to catch early flights back home — or should you choose to extend your trip, continue exploring the city on your own.
