Itinerary
Transfer from Perth, introductory cycle around Albany (10km)
Today we transfer towards Albany, a port city on the edge of Princess Royal Harbour. The trip begins with an 8am pick up in Perth (from Wellington Street Tourist Coach Stand). We drive out through Perth's surrounding National Parks and State Forests, and inland through small settlements. With morning tea and lunch provided on the way, we will arrive on the south coast in Albany mid afternoon and take a short, easy ride around the town to get acquainted with our bikes and our new friends. We check into our comfortable motel for a one night stay and enjoy an evening meal.
Albany to Youngs Siding (48km)
After breakfast we get going for our first big ride. Today's cycling takes us from the town of Albany out to the west. We will be mostly on quiet country back roads and some purpose built tracks as well as a bit of time on bitumen. All of today's ride is graded as easy in terms of the terrain, but we do have a few decent hills to tackle too! There are plenty of opt out points along the way for those who wish to have a shorter day of riding; the vehicle can transfer you and tour bike directly to the accommodation. Our riding finishes about 20 minutes from the town of Denmark where we will be staying for the next three nights.
Youngs Siding to Greens Pool (44km)
This morning we have a short transfer back around Harding River to resume our ride from Youngs Siding. From Youngs Siding we will soon be on an old rail trail (that means mostly flat!) which takes us through Denmark, from where it is an easy and enjoyable cruise through to our end point. Greens Pool is renown as one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia, the perfect place for a post-ride swim! This stunning, sheltered beach is a part of William Bay National Park and we spend the afternoon enjoying it before heading to our accommodation for a scrumptious evening meal.
Greens Pool to Harewood Road (47km)
A more challenging day or riding today as we head north from the coast. We cycle inland through a picturesque mix of forests, farmland and vineyard country. With approximately 15% intermediate terrain to negotiate we will take our time and enjoy the surrounds. There are plenty of wonderful places to stop and recuperate. Again, if you feel like a rest from the saddle, there are options to shorten the day of riding. Your guides and the vehicle will allow you to decide how much riding you undertake.
Harewood Road to Valley of the Giants Road (56km)
Our ride today is simply stunning, taking us past Mount Romance through dense forest of tall Karri and Tingle trees. The Tingle tree is one of the tallest eucalyptus found in Western Australia and can reach the lofty height of 55m and live up to 400 years. Our ride ends at Valley of the Giants Road. Depending on timing you have the option (at your own expense) to visit the famous Tree Top Walk which allows you to experience the wonder of walking 40 metres high through the canopy of the Tingle forest. In the evening we check into our accommodation in Walpole.
Valley of the Giants Road to Walpole, return to Perth (28km)
Our last day of our cycling adventure! 30% of today's ride is on intermediate terrain, taking us through Walpole-Nornalup National Park and by the picturesque Frankland River. We are given magnificent views of the expansive Nornalup Inlet at Coalmine Beach; a wonderful way to finish this unforgettable cycling journey. There will be time to enjoy a hot shower and our final picnic lunch together before we transfer back to Perth and say farewell. We aim to drop you off in Perth by 6pm.
