Meet Your Guide: Chris König

I've been running trips through the Iceland terrain for years – not only because I love Iceland, but I also because I love to create life-changing, personal experiences. This isn't just a group tour/photography workshop – this is an adventure! Together, with our group of new friends, we're going to challenge ourselves, share plenty of beautiful and epic moments, and make unforgettable memories.

Day 1: Reykjavik & Towering Haifoss Falls

Summary:
A general introduction with Haifoss as a highlight: a beautiful 122 meters tall waterfall with plenty of hiking opportunities.

Photo Spots:
Haifoss and the magical surrounding area.

Activities:
A beautiful hidden hike, getting up close to a huge waterfall.

Morning:
Depart from Reykjavik, towards Haifoss. Get to know our travel companions!

Afternoon:
Arrive at Haifoss after an adventurous roadtrip, stopping at the Gullfoss waterfall. Tasty lunch on the road.

Evening:
Editing session with tips & tricks, using the shots made at Haifoss.

Overnight:
Comfy Airbnb or Hotel near Fludir.

Food:
Our trip begins after breakfast. Tasty lunch on the road, and a hearty dinner in a restaurant near Fludir.

Day 2: The Colorful Mountains of Landmannalaugar

Summary:
We move towards Landmannalaugar, a beautiful rugged mountain landscape with its famous colorful mountains.

Photo Spots:

Activities:
Hiking to catch a beautiful sunset. Plenty of hiking routes for different perspectives and different ability levels.

Morning:
Packing up, we begin the drive towards Landmannalaugar.

Afternoon:
After making some awesome scenic stops along the way, we'll have lunch and drop our gear at the campsite. Then we head toward our first hike in the area.

Evening:
We'll hike uphill for sunset with the best view, hopefully catching some Northern Lights from up top. Finally we'll end our day in a relaxing, natural hot spring.

Overnight:
Enjoy a unique stay in huts on the Landmannalaugar campsite.

Food:
Lunch & Dinner will be cooked by the Guides, eaten on location in Landmannalaugar.

Day 3: Land Rover Trek through the Valley of Thor

Summary:
Starting the day in Landmannalaugar before moving towards Thorsmörk, Valley of Thor, in the afternoon.

Photo Spots:
The colorful Landmannalaugar and a gorgeous overview of Thorsmörk, from the top of a hill with the beautiful silver lines of rivers below.

Activities:
Hiking through colorful mountains and into the rugged scene of Thorsmork. Later, crossing the rivers with our Land Rovers.

Morning:
Early wake-up! We'll hike and photograph a bit more of Landmannalaugar in the gorgeous morning light, before hitting the road.

Afternoon:
Lunch in an adorable local cafe on the way to Thorsmörk from Landmannalaugar. When we arrive, we'll make a short hike to a beautiful vantage point in Thorsmörk.

Evening:
We'll enjoy plenty of photo opportunities on our sunset hike. We've got another chance for Northern Lights tonight, and we'll finish the day with a relaxing sauna and some editing.

Overnight:
Volcano Huts - either a bunk bed, cottage, or double room. 

Food:
Breakfast will be cooked by the Guides, lunch in a local restaurant, and dinner will be prepared by the Volcano Huts.

Day 4: Secret Game of Thrones Canyon & Skogafoss Waterfall

Summary:
Exploring around Thorsmörk, providing even more beautiful and adventurous photos. We will also go to a secret canyon where parts of Game of Thrones are filmed. We finish with a beautiful waterfall and camp the night next to one!

Photo Spots:
The surreal canyons and a hidden waterfall in Thorsmörk

Activities:
Exploring the hidden Game of Thrones waterfall, and camping next to the Skogafoss waterfall.

Morning:
After breakfast, we'll head to the secret canyon where Game of Thrones was shot. The Volcano Huts will provide rubber boots for walking. No matter the weather, this is always one of the greatest highlights.

Afternoon:
After lunch, we leave the Volcano Huts. We'll visit a beautiful and hidden waterfall on our way back to the main road. Reachable by a short hike. 

Evening:
Making camp next to the Skogafoss waterfall, we'll hope for Northern Lights. Either way, we'll do some night photography and editing.

Overnight:
Camp right next to the Skogafoss waterfall – so surreal!

Food:
Breakfast and lunch in the Volcano Huts, and dinner in the restaurant next to Skogafoss.

Day 5: Glacier Walk & the Black Volcanic Coast

Summary:
The solheimajokull glacier is fascinating because of its textures, structures, and the fact that it's - well, a glacier! We'll also go to the black coast around Vik/dyrholaey, which is beautiful to capture.

Photo Spots:
The unique black coast of Iceland, a volcanic national park, and a walk on the glacier.

Activities:
Hiking on a glacier, photographing the black beaches.

Morning:
After breakfast, we'll have one of the most magical experiences you can have... walking on pristine, giant, Solheimajokull glacier.

Afternoon:
We'll eat on top of the glacier with pre-made lunches before driving towards Vik. Pitstop to relax and have an editing session in a local coffee shop on the way.

Evening:
Our next destination is Dyrholaey – iconic for its surreal, black beaches. It's a perfect viewpoint for sunset. After, we'll grab dinner in Vik.

Overnight:
Hotel or Airbnb in Vik.

Food:
Breakfast cooked by Guides, pre-made lunch on glacier, and dinner in restaurant in Vik.

Day 6: Icelandic Horses & Return to Reykjavik

Summary:
Half a day. Today we return to Reykjavik... but not before hitting some last photo spots on the way!

Photo Spots:
Icelandic horses around the Ring Road. Epic road shots with mountains in the background.

Activities:
We return to Reykjavik, hitting final photo opportunities along the way.

Morning:
We'll start the drive back to Reykjavik, stopping along the way for photos of final landscapes and famous Icelandic horses.

Afternoon:
Farewell lunch at Reykjavik Space & transfer to airport.

Food:
Breakfast cooked by the Guides, and farewell lunch in Reykjavik.
