Additional Information

This canyon, formed over millions of years by volcanic activity, lies just below the mighty Hoover Dam where the canyon walls rise nearly 2,000 feet from the river's edge. The trip begins, as the river flows, at the base of Hoover Dam, one of the engineering marvels of the world and meanders through 30 miles of Colorado River where it enters Lake Mohave. This spectacular river setting provides a unique paddling experience. There are flowing hot springs in some of the side canyons and a great deal of history associated with the dam itself. There are sauna caves, gauging station, catwalks, trails, and historical foundations of early inhabitants. This will truly be a wild experience for those who partake.
