Celebrate the national parks with a big adventure!

National Park Week (April 20 – April 28 2019) is dedicated to celebrating the preservation of and access to America’s most treasured landscapes and Earth Day, which falls on April 22 in 2019, is focused on protecting the environment—this year’s Earth Day theme is “Protect Our Species.” There are many ways that you can get involved to help raise awareness for our parks and the natural world during this week and throughout the year.

When you’re thoroughly inspired, you can come back and check out some of the great hikes and treks the expert guides at MT Sobek have for you within the U.S. National Park System. From a High Sierra Odyssey in King’s Canyon National Park to a round-up of our favorite parks in the Southwest, including the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks, here are five of our favorite park trips for the summer season.

1. A Long Weekend in Yosemite

Follow expert guides to scratch beneath the surface of Yosemite on this action-packed 4-day hiking adventure. Go deep in the wildly scenic, glacially sculpted Yosemite Valley—considered one of the crown jewels of the National Park Service—and take a hike up stunning trails for incredible vistas.

2. High Sierra Odyssey

Journey across California’s spellbinding High Sierra, known as one of the world’s greatest treks. Navigate the stunning Rae Lakes Loop through the wilderness of King’s Canyon National Park, tackle the famous Glen Pass at 11,978 feet, and camp at Rae Lakes at 10,500 feet.

3. Grand Canyon: Hiking to Phantom Ranch

Spend a thrilling weekend exploring the highlights of Grand Canyon National Park with the added treat of an overnight stay at Phantom Ranch, the only lodging located in the heart of the Grand Canyon. It’s an expertly guided journey to the bottom, showcasing 1.7 billion years of geologic history, exposed in colorful layers by the down-cutting of the Colorado River.

4. National Parks of the Southwest

On this ultimate Southwest adventure, you’ll hike among spectacular natural scenery in three treasured national parks—Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion. MT Sobek delivers this grand-slam in just six days, which is ideal if you don’t have loads of time but want a real-deal adventure.

5. Yosemite Grand Traverse

Explore the legendary high points of the Sierra Nevada carrying nothing but a daypack! With pack mules hauling your gear, enjoy the awesome scenery on this 8-day trans-Sierra trek through Yosemite National Park and the Ansel Adams Wilderness.

We want to acknowledge and thank the past, present, and future generations of all Native Nations and Indigenous Peoples whose ancestral lands we travel, explore, and play on. Always practice Leave No Trace ethics on your adventures and follow local regulations. Please explore responsibly!
