Description

An intermediate loop hike that features a beautiful waterfall within McKinney Falls State Park

The Homestead Loop hike is a 3.1 mile loop featuring the Lower Falls of McKinney Falls State Park. The hike is pretty intermediate and is mostly shaded. There are not many inclines. It is both dog- and kid-friendly. The trail does cross small streams, so be weary to bring water shoes/sandals.

This is a great trail for nature spotting and for a nice hike. This hike is not handicap accessible.

Hike the Homestead Trail Reviews

We’ve done most of the trails in Austin and homestead was not one of our favorites, you can hear road noise the nearly whole time on the trail. Although McKinney falls was quite pretty the trail itself was underwhelming. There are a lot of people and there is an entrance fee, we will give it another shot and try other trails but we’d prefer St. Edward’s or one of the off leash areas.
