The Texas Mountain trail is full of beautiful scenery and historic sites.

This 710  mile long highway goes through many different scenic and historic areas of West Texas. There are mountains, rivers, historic sites and towns and National Parks .You can go hiking, visit museums and have some great food at the many great locally owned restaurants.

The 2 National Parks on the trail are Guadalupe Mountains NP and Big Bend NP.  There are also several Texas State parks such as Big Bend State Park, Franklin Mountain State Park and Davis Mountain State Park. Fort Davis National Historic near the town of Fort Davis and The Mc Donald Observatory.  The drive along the Rio Grande to Presidio is especially beautiful . Terlingua Ranch is a nice place to stay overnight .

Marfa has a very historic courthouse and a nice downtown.

The 3 historic Missions south of El Paso and the historic town of San Elizario are a must see for history buffs.
