Here's a short hike that is something everyone should add on to their canoe/kayak float down the river!

The Harpeth River State Park has a handful of good trails to hike at the park. One of those trails includes the Bluff Overlook trail. That post can be read here. There are two trails leading to the tunnel waterfall. One is the tunnel trail that's connected to the Bluff Overlook trail. It is only .15 mile from the parking lot one way. Follow the directions to the intersection for the Bluff overlook from the post I linked above. Walk past the stairs leading up to the bluff and continue on to the tunnel trail that leads to the left just past the stairs. It will dead end at the tunnel waterfall and water hole. Kayaks and canoes can also reach this tunnel waterfall from the river.

If you'd like a little longer hike, park at the Harris-Street Bridge parking area. Put into the gps "Harris-Street Bridge Trail." The trail starts at the kiosk across from the parking lot and follows along the river to connect to the tunnel trail beside the Bluff Overlook Trail. It is .55 miles one way. This trail is along the backside of the limestone bluff. The tunnel itself is the site of Montgomery Bell's Pattison Forge, where a small waterfall is all that remains of the iron forge operation.

Narrows of the Harpeth Reviews

loved the two trails. Very easy to navigate, but fun nonetheless. quick travel for me so it was a great experience calculating driving time to hike. very woodsy and serene, will definitely come back many times. .

Well kept secret! So pretty in the fall. Recommend the bluff overlook trail as well. The drive out from Nashville was so fun!
