Hike along the shore of a diversely populated island refuge, known for its birds, alligators, and a 'boneyard' beach.

Part of the 66,000 acre Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, Bull Island is just 20 minutes from Charleston, and offers 16 miles of trails. You will need to take a ferry to the island – there are two departures every Tueday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The island is well known for its wildlife. A reported 293 migratory and resident bird species have been identified here. A loggerhead sea turtle nesting site as well as American alligators can also be found on the island.
