The North Rim to Boccardo Trail is an 8.2 mile loop along a river that has scenic views and is great year-round.

Alum Rock Park is accessible from anywhere in Silicon Valley. This trail takes you through the park to the backcountry. The first part of the hike is rather steep as it climbs the hills in Southeast San Jose, and then descends to a section of the park that has bathrooms and water. You finish the hike along the Penitencia Creek.

Pick up a trail map before starting out to map your route along these trails: Penitencia Creek Trail, North Rim Trail, Weather Loop, Boccardo Trail, Todd Quick Trail, North Rim Trail, Penitencia Creek Trail.

The spring is the best time to see wildflowers, the winter is the best time to see clear views of the valley.
