Turtle Hill can be seen from almost anywhere in San Francisco. Upon summit, you can see the entire city!
Turtle Hill is a short walk from the Inner Sunset neighborhood. Simply plug it in on your GPS & you're on your way to a beautiful urban hike. The most common GPS route will take you up Moraga until you reach the large stairway entry titled "Golden Gate Heights." From here you'll continue upward for about a half mile. The stairs are easy, made of concrete, and evenly spaced.
As you climb, look back and gaze at Sutro Tower. Depending on which Golden Hour you've chosen (morning or evening) you may catch the rays piercing through the tower and silhouetting the city. Sunset offers beautiful pinks and blues and the potential puff of fog depending on the season.
As you reach the top, take a hard right to walk around the sandy summit. Looking to the north, you'll notice the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance and the ocean to your left. Here, you can see the span of all 1,000 acres of Golden Gate Park! This is a rare sight.
Continue following the sand path around and take the final stairs to the summit.
