Camp Along the Sonoma Coast
Jenner, California
Description

• Camp right near the coastline• 28 secluded campsites with clean bathrooms and fire pits• Swimming, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and diving close to the campsite• Duration: overnight
My favorite spots are ones that flush you into another world, seemingly far away from the one you came from. In just over 2 hours from San Francisco, you will find a state park that does just that. Salt Point State Park on the Sonoma County Coast boasts panoramic views, kelp-dotted coves, pygmy forests, the dramatic sounds of pounding surf, and so much more.
Albeit often overcast, 20 miles of hiking trails, over six miles of rugged coastline, and an underwater park will keep hikers, horseback riders, fishermen, campers, and divers more than satisfied for days. The park includes one of the first underwater parks in California, Gerstle Cove Marine Reserve, where marine life is completely protected, making this a favorite for scuba divers and snorkelers.
With Gerstle Cove Campground just steps away from the water, you will find yourself wanting to stay for days on end. Unzip your tent and emerge into the rugged Northern California coast and an array of trails. All campsites are equipped with fire rings, picnic tables, and food lockers. Due to only 28 campsites, the grounds book up quickly so plan ahead!
