Description

Added by Lorene Voskinarian

Tamanawas is an impressive 150' waterfall with easy access from Rt. 35. It's a shady hike through Douglas Firs and Cedars with a dry cave to explore behind the falls.

This easy trail in the Mt Hood National Forest has a journey just as lovely as the destination. The hike follows closely along the banks of Cold Spring Creek, up through a massive boulder field, and finally arrives at the 150ft tall Tamanawas

Hiking directions:
Starting at the East Fork- Tamanawas trailhead, begin your hike on East Fork Trail #650. This trail continues along the East Fork river for about a half-mile before coming to Tamanawas Falls Trail #650A. Take this trail, which follows Cold Spring Creek, up to Tamanawas Falls. To access the dry cave, scramble up the rocks along the right side.

Tamanawas Falls can be very powerful and give off a strong spray, so if you are looking to get up close or explore the cave you may want to bring along a rain jacket.

Tamanawas Falls Reviews

Enjoyable hike to the waterfall, and can climb down on the rocks and get right up in all that misty spray! We arrived at the trailhead somewhat early, maybe 8am and had the falls to ourselves just missing the constant rush of people funneling towards the falls right after we left.

such a great hike. in the summer when it isn't so wet/slippery, you can hike behind the falls...makes for some great photos.
