Thinking about Umpqua Hot Springs? Take a short 0.5-mile hike to this hillside hot spring. Before or after your soak, hit the trail to nearby Toketee Falls.

When you arrive at the hot springs you'll see a bathroom and large dumpster in a small gravel parking lot. From the parking lot you'll see a bridge which leads to the trail up to the springs. Its a 0.25 mile walk up to seven different pools, sitting 150ft. above the North Umpqua River. All the hot springs set the perfect soaking vibe with a variety of sizes, temperatures and an excellent view. If you really want the full experience, stay until the stars come out.

Would you like some cold, fresh natural drinking water to cool off with during your soak? Then take a quick walk up river to this hidden mountain stream. Before you cross the bridge in the parking lot, find the trail that follows up along the river. After about .4 miles the trail will walk over a heavy flowing stream, this is the one. Make your way down and give it a try. Some avid local soakers said its one of the freshest natural drinking spring in the country and I believe them!

Umpqua Hot Springs Reviews

Overuse has ruined Umpqua Hotsprings. Pack it in, pack it out - It's a simple concept, folks, and bury your solid waste or use the onsight facilities... Geez. As of July 2016 the Forest Service has prohibited dispersed camping at the trailhead and access is now only allowed from sunrise to sunset due to overuse and lack of leave-no-trace practices. I visited for my first time in over 3 years just last week and was shocked at the increased popularity of these springs. Solitude can no longer be expected: expect a party-sort-of-atmosphere from early afternoon until sunset and a family atmosphere in the AM. I'm sad to say that I won't be traveling out of my way anytime in the future to soak here. Bummer.

Dont get me wrong, really awesome place. However, I apparently showed up during a massive nudist colony meet up. Naked people playing music around fires, naked people in the pools, naked people hiking and walking the roads. Not sure if that is what its always like, but no reviews ive seen ever mentioned it. Hitting up Toketee Falls is a must for sure!!!

These pools are incredible. Stunningly beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. A couple of things you should probably be aware of: 1) These hot springs are clothing-optional, 2) while the trail to the springs is short, it's a bit steep and eroded, so if you're really out of shape, you might have a tough time with it, 3) if you're planning on camping, expect to have a rather large colony of hippies for neighbors, 4) parking is somewhere around $5 for the day, 5) there is a vault toilet at the trail head, but it can be pretty busy with flies and bees in the summer.
