Description

Added by Jen Seiser

A very special place near Cincinnati in the direction of Columbus is Hocking Hills. While I don’t think this makes for the best overnight destination, it makes for a wonderful drive up and day hike if you get an early start.

Favorite Hikes in Hocking Hills include the Rim Trail (2 miles) and the Gorge Trail (1/4 mile). Old Man’s Cave along with Upper and Lower Falls can get quite busy with tourists, but don’t let this scare you off. While these popular destinations are perhaps too easily accessible by road to feel special or secluded; if you keep on marching you will likely find some solitude about a half mile in. Because this area tends to be over crowded, winter is my favorite time to visit.
