Explore Oakley Corners State Forest
Owego, New York
Description
Added by Jake Sells
Escape to the countryside to explore a hidden forest with two small lakes, dozens of trails, lake-side campsites, and awesome stocked fishing only the locals know about.
Off Hullsville Road, the main gravel parking area holds about 5-6 cars, but I've parked on side of the road many times. Fishermen and hunters tend to take the spots around dusk and dawn in the respective seasons.
Hit the trails for some awesome mountain biking, bring a kayak and pole to try your luck fishing, camp lake-side listening to coyote howl throughout the night, or roast some marshmallows at a fire ring on the lake's edge. This is not a state park, rather a state forest, so it's free, but no public restrooms are on site. This is a local favorite that I spent weekends at growing up. Very peaceful, and well kept. Enjoy!
