Cedarburg, WI: The Perfect Daytrip from Chicago

Full day with a hike, fun downtown, beer, wine, and plenty of tasty food options!

By: Natalie F + Save to a List

I recommend starting the day early with a hike at Lion's Den Gorge Loop.  After that hike, head into the cute city of Cedarburg, WI, just a 15 minute drive away. Grab breakfast at the popular PJ Piper Pancake House.  Wander around the adorable downtown of Cedarburg, walk into some of the shops. Try to save some room for a tasty treat at Amy’s Gourmet Apples.  Then hit up one of the many breweries or wineries right there.  My husband and I enjoyed Rebellion Brewing.  It’s in an old mill building.  They serve hard alcohol in addition to beer and there’s free popcorn!

Cedarburg is also a beautiful city to explore around the holidays as they light up their downtown. You could easily make a weekend out of this trip if you wanted to explore the Milwaukee or Sheboygan area too! If you come to Cedarburg in the winter and are looking for an activity, catch a movie at their cheap theater right downtown, Rivoli Theatre. The theater only accepts cash or check FYI.
